For her creations Susan frequently uses vintage stones, which she obtains as individual pieces of antique jewelry, which she dissects and re-sets or in job lots of old costume jewelry.

One year Susan decided that it would be unique to create Christmas gifts for her family utilizing her grandmothers’ technique. As some of her jewelry clients became aware of these pieces, she received and filled requests for them. And thus, from this early, relatively simple jeweled depictions of Christmas trees. Roman Crosses, Peace Symbols, and even butterflies and flowers grew Susan's obsession with larger and more complex three-dimensional works. Her mannequin series is but the latest of her themes.
